Are Madeline's Scents made with lead wicks?
There has been a lot of media coverage lately regarding possible health issues relating to candles containing lead wicks, some of which has unfortunately been confusing or misleading. In order to eliminate any concerns or confusion on the part of our consumers, Madeline's Scents would like to to assure you that we do not use lead wicks in any of our candle products.

How can I keep my candles looking their best?
Candles will discolor or fade when they are exposed to intense light for long periods of time. Do not display your candles for long periods in direct sunlight, or other strong light. Wax will begin to soften in temperatures over 80 degrees Fahrenheit, so store your candles in a cool, dry place.

Why do candle wicks sometimes become mushroom shaped?
This occurs when a candle is consuming wax more quickly than the flame can burn, carbon deposits may develop. This most likely ocurs when the wick needs trimmings or other materials to fall into the wax pool. Trim off the wick to abou 1/4 inch and relight. Do not allow the wick trimmings or other materials to fall into the wax pool.

Can I refill my jar candle when it is empty? Do you recycle the empty jars?
Yes, we refill them in our store. We use only top quality jars. Other jars we won't assume responsibility for, but we will re-fill them and a lot of other things too. To recycle, place jar in a warm oven (about 200 degrees) for 10 minutes. Carefully remove jar (it will be HOT), turn upside down over a garbage can and take a paper towel and wipe out. Then contact your local recycle center.

Why are some fragrances discontinued?
Consumer tastes change with time. As a result, certain fragrances may decline in popularity to the point that it is no longer feasible to continue carrying the oil.

How can I remove candle wax from fabric?
Consult the laundering instructions provided by the manufacturer of the tablecloth or other fabric. Professional cleaners are excellent sources of information. If attempting to clean the item yourself, it is important to allow the wax to completely harden. Once hard, gently chip away the larger pieces of wax from the fabric. After much of the wax has been removed, run hot water through the fabric. Citrus-based or oil-based cleaners are the most effective in removing stains. (Remember to spot test first).

What is the difference between Madeline's Scents and another brand?
We use secret family recipes handed down with Old World techniques and high quality modern materials. We search out the best available ingredients and we specially blend by hand all candles for optimum fragrance and burning performance.
